World of Warcraft

I’ve been playing World of Warcraft since beta. Characters have come and gone in the five or so years the game has been around. I’ll get tired of servers, sick of role-player drama, or just sick of the game itself. Even though I quit, the cycle always seems to start itself again.

Acelynn

Currently a denizen of the server Steamweedle Cartel, Acelynn has been around for a while. Her previous incarnation, known as Annia, lived since the inception of the Burning Crusade (she is a blood elf, after all) on Moon Guard. Her story is one of the most interesting backstories I’ve had in WoW.

Acelynn

Demonologist, at your service.

Her sisters, a younger set of twins, were trained by their parents to follow in the family footsteps. One became a mage, frost instead of fire (scandalous, I know). The other trained in the arts of the priesthood.

Acelynn, by virtue of the only proficiency she had, became an accursed warlock. Instead of reveling in the power such summonings could grant her, her grandfather (the other black sheep of the family) trained her instead to revile it. The demons were to be learned from. They were to be examined for their weaknesses for the inevitable return of the Burning Legion who had twice before tried to summon their foul master Sargeras.

Asenka

This space-goat calls Steamwheedle Cartel home. It’s my first RP sever since my migration to Norgannon, which should prove interesting.

Asenka

My very own space goat!

I haven’t gotten very far on her story yet. As the Draenei have crash-landed on the world, it allows me to approach Azeroth with a sense of morbid curiosity. “That does what… and you can eat that?”

A friend has decided to come and play a space-goat with me on the server, so we may entwine our stories a bit. Beyond that, I haven’t worked much on her personality or storyline much. I’m watching the storyline of her people plan out and learning more about the Draenei as I go.

Understanding the race your playing goes a long way into making a believable and entertaining backstory. You have to know what to adhere to and what to take over your knee and break to bits.

Folpest

Along with her sister, Filpest, Folpest wreaks havoc on Steamwheedle Cartel.

Folpest is a rogue. There’s nothing quite like a short, black haircut and a long, steel dagger. Unlike her sister, Folpest enjoys slaughtering and dissecting various creatures to see where exactly their various organs are. Filpest prefers to find if they have any inherent magic ability by pumping them with as much magical energy as she can to see what they do with it.

Her story line will be interesting once she realizes that Gnomeregan cannot be reclaimed.

I sunk more hours than I care to admit into that game, and have to admit I had a blast playing it.

    Got boring for me though…

It gets boring for me occasionally, too. What I absolutely adore about RP servers is how immersed they keep me. When you have people around you that care about your storyline and care about how you interact with the world, it creates an entirely different atmosphere.

So funny I ran across this tonight… I used to play a LOT… granted not nearly as much as some of my friends (one buddy has 8 lvl 80′s) but I have an 80 tank, a 72 DK and a 45 Mage.

Over the years I was in and out in and out. After 60cap I started a handful of new alts but never played any of them past about 25 – got bored playing the same quests all the time.

Little time after 70 cap came out I jumped back in and power leveled and was a main tank for a while and concurrently started the BE mage… played for while… got way too busy with work and raiding was taking ALL my saturdays and everybody wanted me to do the same during the week to gear up… bleh… quit.. again…

Last expansion came out and after a while jumped into that and lvl’d the tank to 80 but stayed arms warrior. Hated the class as we got mega nerfed. Most of my friends were never online anymore when I could find time to play once in a blue moon, and I got really bored with my professions and just didn’t care anymore.
Mage wasn’t as fun, mostly because I hate going through all those zones and quests again.

So found a new buddy irl and jumped on his server and started an Alliance DK (always been horde) and lvl’d him up for a while… again got bored somewhere in my early 70′s.

And I work too much to have $15 sucked out of my account every month for something I really don’t ever use.

Maybe one day I’ll jump back in… Anyways felt like dropping my wow story :)
