My Gift List, 2009

Every year since I was 10, I’ve created a gift list for those who were interested. As I get older, the list gets shorter and shorter. I’d even like to fancy it getting more practical. Recently, I’ve taken to posting this list online. It helps prevent certain people from buying me things that are not on the list (you know who you are) because they can’t just lose the bloody thing. See? I’m helping.

Without further ado, here’s the list, in no particular order:

  • The Moleskine yearly planner. It seems like it’d be a nice way to reflect on each day.
  • Scarves. I love them. I can’t get enough of them. Last time I walked into the World Market, I had to be held back.
  • Bento Boxes (or associated paraphernalia)! My favorite ones on J-List are:
    • Almost anything Totoro themed is absolutely awesome. Like this one, this one, and this one!
    • Egg shapers, skewers, cups, vegetable cutters, stamps, and sauce containers are just awesome, too!
  • Books… I’ll update this to a real list later.
  • Cookie Cutter… odd ones. I don’t want the normal variety.
  • A new tea set.
  • Personal hookah. I have a large one and a medium one, but they’re both too damned big for what I want.
  • The Smashing Book

Update

I received some pretty awesome stuff this year. Did I mention I loved scarves? I got three of them!

I also bought myself the Moleskine planner. Ahh… disappointments.

    Dana, great list!

One of the blessings of getting (a little) older is that your gift lists get shorter. The scarves ARE beautiful, and the bento boxes? A cultural niche I haven’t explored yet.

    Well, thank you!

Maybe in a few years my list will boil down to world peace and holidays with family.

If you pack your lunch for work, bento boxes are a natural thing. They can make the lunches completely fun and interesting. These can even be useful if you’re working from home and just want to add some structure to your day.
