Stress Relief
21 Dec
I’ve been under a lot of stress lately. I’ve been weary with nearly everything. My new job, thankfully, has become a last bastion of normalcy and sanity in a chaotic period. While this helps illustrate how awesome my job is, measures must be taken to ensure sanity. Enter stress relief.

These are not mine, but mine are similarly awesome.
The question is, what methods do I have time for and what methods can I use? The time is pretty obvious. I work full time, go to school full time, and am trying to wrap up a myriad of little projects to tie up loose ends. My time is a precious commodity to me.
It’s difficult for me to stop completely. Hell, it can be nigh impossible to even slow down for me. Life goes at its own pace, but sometimes its best to not even try to keep up. This is one of the problems that I’m having.
The idea is to disconnect, spend time alone just relaxing or meditating, and pick back up a hobby that involves my hands. I’ve got some old clay laying around the house that I haven’t used, so I spent $5 and bought myself a little kit to better use the clay. I’m hoping this helps. There’s nothing quite like spending some time working with your hands. Building little gift packages for Bookmans on Friday helped solidify this for me. It’s time to get away from the computer every now and again and just start life back up.
The question is… how do you lot try to eliminate stress in your life?

Working out can help; playing a game or reading a book or watching a movie also takes my mind off stressful things for a bit.
To actually remove stress, I try to organize what needs to get done and then do them, taking a pseudo-”Getting Things Done” approach.
At work I often make a list on a 3×3 post-it – if someone comes up with something not on the list its either more important than an item on the list or I suggest finding someone else (nicely of course).
Thanks. The good thing is that I already use most of those particular methods.
The post-it method sounds pretty good for work-style things. I’m a little low on the totem pole to really do that, but it’s a great idea.
Playing games helps a lot. I love to do it right after I come home. You just shut down for 30 mins or so.
Your only worry will be how to kill your enemy in the most evil and painful way. Nah, just kidding
Also if you are stressed with work trying working while listening to (not so) loud music. Something strong or calm, it’s up to you
