Just this past week, Bookmans sent me on a trip to the fine city of Austin, Texas for a conference known as South by Southwest. This wonderful event is almost more of a festival of nerddom than any sort of coherent conference. I’m a fan of Netflix. I enjoy the concept of being able to have the video store just mail you a DVD instead of going to the nearby Blockbuster. I watched my absent minded mother rack up several hundred dollars in late fees over the course of my childhood. Now, couple this with the ability to stream movies from my home computer, you’ve got a product I’m sold on. (more…)

Every once in a while I find a foodstuff that just rocks my world. It’s the kind of thing you sneak up in the middle of the night to grab another taste of. I’ve done this with several different condiments in my life. Most recently is the delicious rice topping known as furikake. (more…)

A few months ago, I decided that my old browser standby (Firefox) could use some review. When I began using it, it was the best alternative for the beast that is Internet Explorer. Since my recent switch over to the Mac, I haven’t really explored other alternatives. “Because it’s what I’ve always used” is no excuse for a preference, so I set out in search of my preferred browser. Spaz claws my furniture. I’ve woken up to the noises of her shredding the corner of my couch. She even has a favorite spot that she seems to believe exists for no other reason than for her to rip the bloody thing to shreds.
